VPNC Update for July, 2001

Welcome to the latest issue of the VPNC Update. We hope you find the news in this issue valuable.

VPNC News

New VPNC logo for certificate conformance

VPN has recently expanded its popular conformance testing program to cover the use of certificates for IPsec authentication. Virtually all of VPNC's members' products allow the use of PKIX certificates for authentication, and the new logo program allows members to show that they conform to the standard. This new logo program should be of interest to all users of IPsec products who plan to also use digital certificates to authenticate their VPNs.

The first VPNC members to receive the new certificate logo are:

Full information on the new logo can be found at the conformance site.

VPN Bakeoff

One of the more important events in the VPN world is the VPN bakeoff that happens approximately every nine months. Although VPNC does not sponsor or put on the bakeoff, VPNC heartily supports the event. The next VPN bakeoff will be held in Espoo, Finland (near Helsinki) August 13-19, 2001. This is the week following the IETF meeting in London, so many people will already be in Europe. Further details on the event can be found at the bakeoff's web site.
