A major difference between VPNC's testing program and many others is that VPNC re-tests the interoperability of members' systems when they update their software or firmware. This re-testing helps assure users that the updates did not adversely affect the interoperability that had been assured earlier.

IPsec Virtual Private Networks: Conformance and Performance Testing from Ixia, describes the importance of good methodology when testing either for conformance or performance of IPsec systems. It describes the difficulties of creating good metrics for conformance due to the ambiguities in the IPsec specifications, and the challenges of writing performance test suites that are relevant to a particular customer. Of course, it also describes ways of getting over these problems and how to analyze the results of the tests that are run.

It includes an extensive MPLS interoperability showcase organized by the

San Francisco / February 23-27, 2004
This conference focuses on all sorts of security technologies, with
VPNs being just one aspect. The educational tracks are usually quite
well-attended, and the exhibit floor is often the biggest of the
security-specific trade shows.
European VPN Services Forum
London / April 19-21, 2004
This conference covers VPN services, convergence of voice and data over
VPNs, and the combining of WANs and VPNs, all from a European perspective.
The conference covers VPNs from the perspective of both the service
provider and the VPN user.
