Welcome to the latest issue of the VPNC Update. We hope you find the news in this issue valuable.
This month, VPNC welcomes another new member: SonicWALL.
From its founding in 1991, SonicWALL has matched its technology to real customer needs. SonicWALL was one of the first to integrate additional capabilities into a firewall appliance, including VPN and content filtering. Today, SonicWALL is a leader in unified threat management appliances, with enterprise-class products and services that provide anti-virus, intrusion prevention and anti-spyware, for wired and wireless networks of all sizes, in a single package.
This has been another very busy month in the VPNC testing lab. We have new logos for many products as well as retesting of both IPsec and SSL VPN products in systems that have had significant updates to their software and firmware. We now have 40 IPsec products that fully interoperate with their most recent software, 25 of which fully interoperate with using AES encryption.
This month, three members with new systems received both the IPsec Basic Interoperability and IPsec AES Interoperability logos:
This month, one member with a system that had previously received its IPsec Basic Interoperability logo received its IPsec AES Interoperability logo:
This month, two members who had significant upgrades to their base IPsec software retested for their IPsec Basic Interoperability and IPsec AES Interoperability logos:

See the VPNC testing page for full lists of all the VPNC members' products which have proven interoperability.

Secure Remote Working: Are We Virtually There Yet? from AEP Networks gives a very good overview of secure remote user access to networks. It covers many scenarios for remote working (including some offices in an organization not being usable due to a disaster), and then details many ways in which SSL VPNs can be used in those scenarios.
MPLS 2005
Washington, DC / October 16-19, 2005
MPLS 2005 covers all aspects of MPLS, with emphasis on using MPLS in
VPNs and for streamlining ISP operations. The conference's educational
program has a strong technical component.
Interop New York
New York, NY / December 12-15, 2005
This is a smaller version of Interop Las Vegas, which is
probably the largest networking show in the world. This conference has a
sizable show floor for vendors and a large, fast-paced educational track.
Because of the large attendance, many VPN vendors
regularly exhibit at Interop.
