Welcome to the latest issue of the VPNC Update. We hope you find the news in this issue valuable.
This month, VPNC welcomes another new member: RetiCorp.
Reti means "net" in Latin, capturing the essence of RetiCorp's ceaseless pursuit in network security. Reti also reflects the motto of the company: Responsibility, Efficiency, Teamwork, and Innovation. RetiCorp's innovative Unified Security Management (USM) technology embodies a new concept that integrates technology and business workflow to keep the network secure, efficient, and under control. RetiCorp has developed a wide array of USM products, RetiEdge, RetiConnect, RetiVista, RetiSensor, and RetiIDentity, which work collaboratively to form an information safe-zone to protect business and prevent potential threats.
This month, one member tested a new system for the IPsec Basic Interoperability logo:
VPNC regularly retests systems when their software, firmware, or hardware has a significant change. This assures customers that new versions don't break interoperability that has already been established.
This month, one member retested for both the IPsec Basic Interoperability logo and the IPsec AES interoperability logo with upgraded versions of their firmware for two separate systems:
See the VPNC testing page for full lists of all the VPNC members' products which have proven interoperability.

A new informational RFC relating to VPNs has been issued by the IETF. RFC 4718, "IKEv2 Clarifications and Implementation Guidelines", collects the observations of developers who are creating IKEv2 implementations. The document, co-authored by VPNC's director Paul Hoffman, expands on IKEv2 (RFC 4306) and provides descriptions of IKEv2 features that are less prone to ambiguous interpretations than the original standard. It also contains an extensive rewriting and reorganization of the description of creating and keying security associations (SAs).
A list of the other RFCs and Internet Drafts related to VPNs is always available from the VPN standards page on the VPNC web site.
