-------------------- James Kempf (2005-10-04): Section 3.1, paragraph 3: "when the initiator is the mobile node" -> "when the initiator is a mobile node" Section 3.2: I think the explantion around the messaging sequence needs to indicate that the addresses which the initiator can switch between are included in the SAi2 and SAr2. When I read this, I found myself asking "how can the initiator switch addresses when no alternate addresses are given?" We otherwise do not find out that the addresses are in the SA until much later in the document. Section 3.2, first paragraph after messages: This paragraph describes what 1)-3) do, but not 4). You may think it obvious, but it should be included for completeness. Section 4.3, paragraph 4: "The responder normally..." The document makes a big point about "initiator decides", then throws in this little caveat. For example, in this paragraph, it goes to great lengths to describe how there is a policy module of some kind on the initiator that makes the decision about what address to use. When it comes to the responder, however, it says the responder doesn't use the addresses, except... When you think about the "except...", however, you need to ask yourself: "Well then wouldn't the responder have an equally powerful policy module that would determine when an address goes down and when it then tries to use another with the initiator?" In effect, the protocol really isn't "initiator decides", because the responder can, spontaneously, decide to use a new address pair too. I might be missing something here, and therfore it might make sense to actually include a specific, bulletized list about what the initiator and responder can decide about using an address pair. This would actually clarify what "initiator decides" really means. Section 4.4, first paragraph: same comment as above w.r.t. responder's ability to change address. Section 4.4, after second bulletized list: "When the initator receives the reply, it:" -> "When the initator receives the reply, it does the following:" Section 4.4, third bulletized list, third bullet: "initiator MAY select another addresses" -> "initiator MAY select another address" Section 4.4, paragraph after third bulletized list: Same comment w.r.t responder decision. Section 4.5, paragraph after first message sequence: "the exchange responder:" -> "the exchange responder does the following:" Section 6.1, paragraph 3: "lead the peers believe" -> "lead the peers to believe" --------------------
