identifying the second request

   In section 5 of Xauth Draft 
  
  "Some mechanisms allow for another optional request of the passcode.

   1)How  ipsec host comes to know that one more request follows after the
first request?
   ( here first request means    "<-- REQUEST(NAME="" PASSWORD=""
PASSCODE="")"  
     and second request means  request message  from edge device  in
response to the reply message            	from ipsec host  
                                              " <-- REQUEST(NAME=""
PASSWORD="" PASSCODE="")"
      )
    2)Where I can get   more information regarding SDI  architecture?
