The attributes in Xauth draft  are as follows

My questions are
1)What is meant by basic?
2)In what way  the 'variable ASCII string' and 'variable' differs?
3)I am assuming   the following attributes comes under TV format
   a)XAUTH_TYPE
   b)XAUTH_STATUS
simillarly I am assuming the remaining XAuth attributes comes under TLV
format. 
Please let me know whether my assumptions regarding this attribute Type
(TV/TLV) are correct or not.
